BeMoved Intensive

Guest Teacher

Anita Siu

Anita is a lifelong dancer whose journey has taken her from a childhood studio in Vancouver to stages around the world. She began training at just five years old, studying Polynesian dance, jazz, and tap. That early foundation in movement eventually led her to dance professionally with the NBA for three seasons, between the ages of 18 and 21.

At 21, Anita embarked on what became a 15-year adventure at sea, performing aboard Royal Caribbean cruise ships and traveling the globe. Her connection with renowned choreographer Sherry Zunker began at her very first audition—Sherry was on the panel that awarded Anita her first RCCL contract. Over the years, Anita became a featured dancer in more than sixteen large-scale stage productions, including Invitation to Dance, choreographed by Dancing with the Stars’ Louis van Amstel. She also worked under an impressive roster of industry choreographers and directors, including Harrison McEldowney, Jeremy Plummer, Frank Chaves, Laura Dunlop, and BeMoved founder Sherry Zunker. Her leadership and professionalism led her to serve as both dance captain and company manager for nine of her years at sea.

It was through her work with Royal Caribbean that Anita was introduced to BeMoved. Sherry Zunker regularly taught morning BeMoved classes for the production casts, and she invited Anita to become a certified BeMoved Instructor. Anita accepted and completed her certification in 2014. She began teaching in the Vancouver area and quickly advanced to earn the Artistry of BeMoved Certification.

For the past 11 years, Anita has built a vibrant BeMoved community in Vancouver. In 2024, she was invited to join the BeMoved at Sea team for Carnival Cruise Lines, continuing her mission of bringing joy through movement to audiences worldwide. When she’s not sailing the seas, Anita teaches BeMoved, Latin Styling, and Polynesian dance classes throughout Greater Vancouver. Her students, from beginners to lifelong dancers, are drawn to her infectious energy, vibrant teaching style, and passion for helping others connect to the joy of dance.
